DisorderPersistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia)
A chronic, lower-grade depressive mood present for most of the day, more days than not, for at least two years in adults (one year in children/adolescents) -- persistence rather than intensity is the defining feature.
DisorderBipolar I Disorder
A condition defined by the occurrence of at least one manic episode -- a distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood with increased energy, lasting at least one week (or requiring hospitalization).
DisorderGeneralized Anxiety Disorder
Excessive, hard-to-control worry about multiple everyday domains (work, health, finances, relationships), present more days than not for at least six months, accompanied by physical tension symptoms.
DisorderPanic Disorder
Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks -- abrupt surges of intense fear peaking within minutes -- followed by at least a month of persistent concern about additional attacks or significant related behavior change.
DisorderObsessive-Compulsive Disorder
The presence of obsessions (intrusive, unwanted, distressing thoughts/urges/images), compulsions (repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed to reduce the distress), or both, that are time-consuming or significantly impairing.
DisorderPosttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
A condition that can develop after exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence, involving intrusive re-experiencing, avoidance, negative changes in mood/cognition, and heightened arousal lasting more than a month.
DisorderSchizophrenia
A disorder involving at least two of five core symptom domains (delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized/catatonic behavior, negative symptoms), with continuous signs persisting for at least six months and significant functional decline.
DisorderAutism Spectrum Disorder
A neurodevelopmental condition marked by persistent differences in social communication/interaction across contexts, together with restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities, present from early in development.
DisorderAttention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
A neurodevelopmental pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that is inconsistent with developmental level, present in multiple settings, with several symptoms evident before age twelve.

DisorderBipolar II Disorder
A bipolar-spectrum condition defined by hypomanic episodes and major depressive episodes, without a history of a manic episode.
DisorderSchizoaffective Disorder
A psychotic disorder in which prominent mood episodes coexist with schizophrenia-spectrum symptoms, including a required period of psychosis occurring independently of a major mood episode.
DisorderPosttraumatic Stress Disorder
A trauma- and stressor-related disorder involving a characteristic pattern of intrusion, avoidance, negative mood/cognition changes, and arousal/reactivity after qualifying trauma exposure.
DisorderMajor Neurocognitive Disorder Due to Alzheimer’s Disease
A major neurocognitive syndrome attributable to Alzheimer’s disease in which acquired cognitive decline interferes with independence in everyday activities.
DisorderSpecific Learning Disorder
A neurodevelopmental disorder involving persistent difficulty learning and using specific academic skills despite appropriate learning opportunities.
DisorderSocial (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder
A neurodevelopmental condition involving persistent difficulty using verbal and nonverbal communication for social purposes.

DisorderSocial Anxiety Disorder
Persistent fear or anxiety about social or performance situations involving possible scrutiny or negative evaluation.
DisorderAcute Stress Disorder
A trauma- and stressor-related condition involving characteristic trauma-related symptoms that occur from shortly after a qualifying traumatic event through the first month.

DisorderEnuresis
Repeated voiding of urine into bed or clothes beyond the developmental level at which continence would ordinarily be expected, with clinically relevant distress or impairment.
